La Franca beach

This impressive beach, located in the eastern coast of Asturias, near the town of La Franca and belonging to the county of Ribadedeva.
La Franca beach is a very good example of the beautiful Asturian landscapes, a place that can represent the natural richness of this province.

On the left side of this beach the Cabra river has its mouth, a beautiful estuary where many fishermen enjoy fishing. On the right side, on low tide, a whole world of small caves and labyrinths opens to our eyes and our curiosity.

If we turn our backs to the Cantábrico sea, we can enjoy an extraordinary mountain landscape, first the Cuera range and behind it the Picos de Europa summits.

The Cuera range is around 30 km long and it is located 6km from the coastline, running parallel to it. Its highest peak is Pico Turbina (1315 meters), the summit can be reached following a route with a medium level difficulty.

The views from the coastline near Llanes and from Picos de Europa are really rewarding.

La Franca is one of the more spectacular and best known beaches in the eastern coast, during the high season, it offers many services, from lifeguard service to the rental of deck chairs and beach umbrellas.

There is a wide variety of accommodations, bars and restaurants of different food styles and prices near the beach.
If you come to know Asturias, this is a visit you cannot miss, it will surprise you!

Wildlife in Green Spain

“Asturias, Natural Paradise”, is how Asturias was described in a promotion developed by the Tourism Department some years ago.

This slogan is internationally known , 25 years after, because, with no doubt, nature is the greatest experience to enjoy when visiting Asturias.

In this blog there will be information about Asturian nature: the beaches, the natural reserves, fauna, flora, geology and ecosystems…
Asturias (Green Spain) has innumerable natural sources: geomorphologic areas of interest, some of the most important Jurassic remains in the world, Biosphere Reserves, a net of Regional Natural Protected Areas (RRENP), the Picos de Europa National Park, etc.

We offer unique nature experiences in Spain where brave bulls, wild cattle and blue-fin tuna share a virgin paradise. We support responsible tourism and we raise awareness amongst travelers about the natural setting or place that they visit.

We believe Greener is Greater and we promote experiences that depend on protected natural settings and resources as well as meaningful cultural engagement.

Our tailor-made luxury holidays to Spain include hotels of quality and character that reflect the nature of the region you are visiting.

We can offer you luxurious resort-hotels where you can rest and relax, boutique city hotels that are ideal for a short break, historic Paradores set within castles and monasteries, and country hotels with rustic charm.
Experience the country’s exhilarating including Madrid and Barcelona, discover diverse landscapes and stunning rural scenery, explore the varied coastline where you will find rugged cliffs in some areas and long sandy beaches in others, or visit the many islands of the Canaries or the Balearics where there is far more to enjoy than just sun, sea and sand.
